Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how Syott Limited ("Syott", "we", "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on syott.co. For how we handle personal data more generally, see our Privacy Policy.

Cookies and similar technologies

A cookie is a small text file that a website saves in your browser so that it can recognise the browser or remember information later. Local storage and session storage are browser features that do a similar job. In this policy, "cookies" covers all three.

Cookies set by syott.co are first-party cookies. Cookies set by another company's domain, such as Microsoft's, are third-party cookies, and that company controls them.

How your choices work

Strictly necessary cookies are always on. Everything else falls into three optional categories:

  • Analytics — PostHog and Dash0 help us understand how the site is used and how well it performs.
  • Session recordings and heatmaps — PostHog session replay and Microsoft Clarity show how visitors move through our pages.
  • Support chat — the Intercom Messenger lets you chat with our team.

In the EU and the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, and when we can't tell where you are, no optional cookie is set and no optional tool loads until you agree. In other regions, including the United States, optional tools may be switched on by default, and you can switch them off at any time.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a refusal of all optional categories, wherever you are, unless you switch a category on yourself in Cookie Settings.

You can change your choices whenever you like through Cookie Settings in the footer of our website. When you switch a category off, we stop its tools and delete the cookies and data they stored on syott.co. Cookies that Microsoft sets on its own domains can only be deleted through your browser settings. We ask for your choice again after 6 months, or sooner if we change the optional tools we use.

We don't necessarily use every tool listed below at all times. The consent panel lists only the tools currently in use.

Strictly necessary and preference cookies

These cookies are set by Syott on syott.co. The site needs them to work and to remember the choices you make, so they don't require your consent. We don't use them to track you on other websites.

Name Purpose Duration
syott_consent Stores your cookie choices and a random consent ID, so that we can respect your choices and keep a record of them 6 months
locale Remembers your language 1 year
syott_country Remembers the country or region you picked in the footer, which sets the currency and regional legal links we show 1 year
locale-prompt Remembers that you closed the language suggestion, so that we don't show it again 1 year

When you start filling in one of our forms, Cloudflare Turnstile loads from challenges.cloudflare.com to check that you're not a bot. Cloudflare may store information in your browser on its own domain for this check. This is strictly necessary to protect our forms; see Cloudflare's Turnstile Privacy Addendum.

Analytics (optional)

Name Provider Purpose Duration
ph_<project key>_posthog (cookie and local storage) PostHog Tells visits and sessions apart, so that we can measure pages viewed, clicks and scroll depth 1 year
Session data in local and session storage (no cookies) Dash0 Groups measurements of page speed and errors into a browsing session A session ends after 3 hours without activity, or after 24 hours at most

PostHog data is sent through our own domain, a.syott.co, to PostHog's EU cloud. Dash0 receives data at its EU endpoint in Ireland.

Session recordings and heatmaps (optional)

Name Provider Purpose Duration
ph_<project key>_posthog PostHog Links a session recording to your visit (the same storage PostHog uses for analytics) 1 year
_clck Microsoft Clarity Keeps a Clarity visitor ID and settings for syott.co 1 year
_clsk Microsoft Clarity Joins the page views of one visit into a single recording 1 day
CLID Microsoft (third-party) Records when Clarity first saw your browser on any website that uses Clarity 1 year
MUID Microsoft (third-party) Identifies browsers across Microsoft websites; Microsoft uses it for analytics, advertising and operational purposes 13 months
ANONCHK Microsoft (third-party) Records whether MUID is passed to a Microsoft advertising cookie; Clarity always sets it to 0 10 minutes
MR Microsoft (third-party) Tells Microsoft whether to refresh MUID 7 days
SM Microsoft (third-party) Keeps MUID in sync across Microsoft domains Session

PostHog session replay runs only if you allow both analytics and session recordings. Recordings are set up to mask what you type into form fields, and we tell Clarity that advertising storage is not allowed. Microsoft processes Clarity data in the United States. Cookies on Microsoft's domains are controlled by Microsoft and described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

Support chat (optional)

Name Provider Purpose Duration
intercom-id-<app ID> Intercom An anonymous ID that lets the Messenger recognise your browser No fixed expiry; kept until you clear it
intercom-session-<app ID> Intercom Keeps your chat session and gives you access to earlier conversations 1 week
intercom-device-id-<app ID> Intercom Identifies your device to help prevent abuse 270 days, renewed while in use

Intercom stores chat data in the United States; see Intercom's privacy policy.

Blocking and deleting cookies in your browser

Most browsers let you see, block and delete cookies and other site data; your browser's help pages explain how. If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of our website, such as remembering your language, won't work as intended.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when we add, remove or change cookies. The date at the top of this page shows the latest version.
