Career Development
Grow without guessing where you stand.
Every role at Syott maps onto one career framework, so expectations are written down rather than inferred. You can see what the next level asks for before you decide whether you want it.
How levelling works
Levels describe scope, not seniority theatre. Management and individual-contributor tracks run in parallel and are paid on the same scale — moving into management is a change of job, not a promotion.
| Level | Equivalent | Experience | Responsibilities |
|---|---|---|---|
| L1 | Intern | Less than 1 year | Learns the codebase and ships small, well-scoped changes with close support. |
| L2 | Graduate | 1–2 years | Completes defined tasks independently and asks for help at the right moments. |
| L3 | Associate | 2–3 years | Owns features end-to-end within an established pattern. |
| L4 | Mid-level | 3–5 years | Owns a surface area, breaks down ambiguous work, and reviews others’ output. |
| L5 | Senior | 5–7 years | Leads projects across a team and raises the quality bar around them. |
| L6 | Staff | 7–9 years | Sets technical direction for a product area and unblocks other teams. |
| L7 | Senior Staff | 9–12 years | Owns outcomes spanning several teams and multiple quarters. |
| L8 | Principal | 12+ years | Shapes company-wide architecture and the decisions that outlast a roadmap. |
| L9 | Distinguished | 15+ years | Defines the direction of an entire discipline at Syott. |
| L10 | Management | 8+ years | Leads managers and owns the health and delivery of a department. |
| L11 | Executive | 12+ years | Owns a function end-to-end, including its budget and hiring plan. |
| L12 | C-Level | 15+ years | Accountable for company strategy and its execution. |
