Referral Terms

These terms apply when you refer someone for a job at Syott Limited ("Syott"), whether or not you work at Syott. The person you refer is covered by our Application Terms, like any other candidate. Candidates put forward by recruitment agencies aren't referrals under these terms; see the Application Terms.

Ask first

Before you refer someone, make sure they're happy for you to share their details with us and for us to contact them. Share only what we need: their name, contact details, the role and why you think they'd be a good fit.

When we contact the person you referred, we'll tell them that you referred them. If they tell us they didn't agree to the referral, we'll delete their details and won't contact them again.

How to refer someone

Send the referral to the Syott recruiter for the role, or to hello@syott.co, naming the role. A referral counts when:

• the person agreed to be referred;
• it names a specific open role; and
• the person hasn't already applied for that role and isn't already in a hiring process with us.

If more than one person refers the same candidate for the same role, the first valid referral we receive counts.

A fair process

A referral helps us meet great people, but it doesn't give the candidate an advantage. Referred candidates go through the same stages and are assessed against the same criteria as everyone else. To protect the candidate's privacy, we won't share details of their application with you, except to tell you whether a referral reward is payable.

Referral rewards

A referral reward is payable only if we've confirmed in writing, before you make the referral, that a reward applies to the role. That confirmation sets out the amount and the conditions, such as the candidate being hired and completing a qualifying period. Unless it says otherwise:

• rewards for Syott employees are paid through payroll and are subject to tax;
• people involved in the hiring decision for the role aren't eligible for a reward for that role; and
• we may change or end a reward scheme, but we'll honour referrals already made under it.

Personal data

Syott Limited is the controller of the personal data you share about the candidate and of your own details as the person making the referral. We use your details to manage the referral and any reward, and we handle all of this data as described in our Privacy Policy. We keep referral records for 12 months after the hiring process ends, or for longer where we need them to pay a reward or to keep payroll and tax records.
